Farewell Masquerade

Really enjoyed the bar. It was large, smoke free ( I'm a smoker) , and it was brand new. Really nicely done. I think it lasted about a year. One of the fastest disappearing acts I'd ever seen.

Disappointing

It was great to have a full liquor gay bar in the area without having to haul all the way down to Tubby's or TBL. Sadly, the fun ended with the booze. I tried to support the new owners, but they seem too interested in having the place be their own private social club than inviting and maintaining new patrons. The owner's girlfriend got rather upset when people suggested different music and threw tantrums on the bar's Facebook page constantly. They don't seem to understand that it takes more than a drag show (even if they are fabulous) to make the place fun and that the gay community has enough drama without plastering it all over your establishment's Facebook page. They are supposed to be opening in a new building soon (only took them 10 months to close down after moving to where they are now), but I am not sure if that will ever happen. Maybe it's for the best because the owners don't seem to understand how to run a business.

You don't believe how happy we were to find Masquerades. Open to all no matter what their lifestyle is. Swingers are just another addition to the group. Everyone needs a place where they are comfortable and we were. This is a jewel of a place, the owners are providing a clean, safe place for everyone. If you live in a glass house, please throw stones. Our group of swingers enjoyed and had fun at Masquerades and hope to return. As they say 'can't we all just get along'. Swingers are a very diverse group, we should fit right in, get to know we do fit right in. We wish Susan and Michelle a long run,it is a great place. Everyone should take advantage of what Masquerades has to offer. We will and hope all of you will also. Putting cash in the till keeps the dorrs open for all, having our group can only help contribute to making this a truly open and fun place to be. We hope to meet all of you, having a good time is universal. Out of five stars we Masquerades a 5, We think all of you should also.

Pretty lame excuse for a gay bar

I'm visiting from Denver and heard this is a great place to go in SW Florida. I got there at 10:30 on a Saturday night and the place was half full with an older straight swingers club wearing name tags. Ugh. After being assured it would pick up later, it never did. The crowd was small to medium, and on a Saturday night! And the bar had a very limited selection, only wells as far as I could tell, with no flavored vodkas. Come on this is supposed to be a gay bar??? One good thing: the drag show was awesome with some fierce queens :) but I won't ever go back. Two stars because of the drag show, one otherwise.
